Welcome to the Bizweni Centre for Disabled Children

We are a centre for children with special needs, catering for a variety of disabilities and servicing children from Lwandle, Nomzamo, Gordon’s Bay, Strand, Somerset West, Sir Lowry’s Pass and Macassar. We are not just a care centre. We provide a preschool curriculum to equip the children with special needs for the future and place them in the appropriate schools. We currently have three children that are placed in mainstream schools this year- special needs children that have the ability to prosper in mainstream school due to the effective program we provide at Bizweni Centre for the Disabled. We see each child in our care as special, unique with abilities to thrive when we expose them to the right stimulation for their specific special need.

We liaise closely with the educational psychologist in our area. We have also placed children at Rusthof Special School ,Paarl School for Cerebral Palsy Children and other schools for their specific needs.

We currently have children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Spina Bifida, Deafness, Blindness, Down’s Syndrome and developmental delays in our care.

Our team consists of a social worker (principal), bookkeeper, nurse, NDT physiotherapist, educare staff, foundation phase teacher, general assistants, driver and volunteers.

Together we put programs in place that allow the children to grow physically , cognitively, socially and spiritually.

We are equipped with a therapy room for optimal one-on –one stimulation, therapy and education. Lessons in the class are being reinforced during the one-on –one sessions.
